Meet the New Bank, Same as the Old Bank?

They finally finished taking down the "Compass Bank" sign in my building and installing the "BBVA Compass" sign. "BBVA Compass" doesn't really roll off the tongue, but if joining Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentina is what it takes to save the economy, then so be it.

So I took a picture of the new sign for this post:



Only a few hours, however, after I took the picture, a team of workers arrived to replace the new sign with a new new sign:



As you can see, the letters were formally dark silver on an off-white background. After the morning redo, the letters are light-silver on an off-white background. That's pretty interesting. Did they want it to blend in? Corporate logo change? At least they apparently aren't taking TARP money to do this.
